Garden party fundraising shines through the rain

Hospitable Barbara Sowden staged a garden party for York Against Cancer and despite hitting one of this summer’s very rare rain showers, she raised an impressive £435 for us with the party, which featured a tombola and raffle.

“At one point I had 50 people in my kitchen, but we did manage to get out into the garden later,” she said. “My friends were amazing, coming to help all day. I definitely couldn’t have done it without them.”

 Barbara was prompted to hold the event because a friend of hers has cancer and among other support from us had been to our respite flat in Whitby. Thanks, Barbara and friends – we really appreciate your efforts.
