Keith's year of fundraising

A year of fundraising by a dedicated supporter has given us a four-figure boost.

Keith Potts raised £2,500 for York Against Cancer with a series of events ranging from dances to a Captain’s Day during his tenure as Captain of Malton and Norton Golf Club.

Keith had a designated bunker at the course throughout his captaincy from April 2018 to April 2019, and anyone whose balls ended up there had to forfeit 50 pence towards our cause.

The fundraising stint is the latest in a series of efforts that Keith has been involved with to support our charity over the years.

He, his late wife Christine and his family had long organised fundraisers for York Against Cancer and when she died of breast cancer in 2012 Keith continued to support our work.

He donated a trophy for our annual golf day at York Golf Club, Strensall and the family runs an annual walk which raises money for us and other good causes.

Keith, now director of hospitality at Malton and Norton Golf Club, said he had been pleased by the support shown to him by players. “People who have been touched by cancer have supported me and the functions I have held to raise money,” he said. “I am lucky to have lots of very good friends.”
