Three Peaks conquest raises thousands for us

A gang of hardy walkers have gone the extra mile by tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks for us.

Members and friends of Sheriff Hutton Bridge CC are footsore but victorious after their epic 24-mile conquest of Ingleborough, Pen Y Ghent and Whernside.

The walk worked out at 58,000 steps on their fitness apps and it has so far raised £4,280 to be split between our funds and those of the cricket club.

Steve Clipston, one of the walkers, said they had been really lucky with the weather. “It started off cold and windy but by 11am it was glorious sunshine!” he said. “We needed sunscreen, which we really did not expect at this time of the year. It was hard but it was fun and we completed it in 10 hours and 40 minutes.”

Steve said the walk was the latest in a series of fundraising efforts that Sheriff Hutton Bridge had made in our support.

“The club are so pleased to have formed an alliance with the charity that has supported several of our members and their families in previous years,” he said. “The club will also proudly display the York Against Cancer logo on their shirts for the forthcoming season.”
