On track to raise cash for charity

Calling all railway fanatics! This magnificent model layout has been given to us by a well-wisher who would like us to use it to raise as much money as possible for our cause.

The ‘N’ gauge layout includes locomotives, carriages, track and associated buildings from a farm to two stations. It is of the finest quality, with the engines and rolling stock alone worth £250 at purchase.

The layout will go on display at the forthcoming Model Railway Weekend organised by the Ebor Group of Modellers on February 17 and 18 at Heworth Church Hall.

We plan to offer it for sale through an auction with a suitable reserve price at 3pm on the Sunday of the show.

“This is an incredibly generous gesture by a very thoughtful supporter and we want to make the best use of the gift that we can,” said Julie Russell, our general manager.

The Model Railway Weekend will also feature a fascinating display of other trains and layouts.

Refreshments will be offered for sale by us, and a large selection of second-hand equipment will be on sale.
