Yorkshire workers take on tough challenges for us

Partners and directors at accountancy firm Garbutt + Elliott raised a fantastic £6.528 when they took on one of our county’s toughest challenges.

A team of 11 tackled the Yorkshire Three Peaks and everything the British weather could throw at them, handsomely beating their £5,000 fundraising target for us and their other charity partner, the Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal.

The 24-mile trek saw them summit the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in a gruelling day of blazing sunshine, high winds, heavy rain and thick fog.

It was just one of the fantastic fundraisers being taken on by Garbutt + Elliott in its year of boosting our charities’ work.

Staff also took on personal challenges by running the Leeds and York 10K races and in-house efforts have featured cake sales, including a recent Hallowe’en extravaganza.

Our General Manager Julie Russell said she was blown away by the enthusiasm of the firm and its staff in supporting our work.

 “We’re very impressed by the dedication shown by the fundraising team at Garbutt + Elliott,” she said. “We’re only able to make a difference to the patients and families we support and fund cancer research through the fantastic support we receive from businesses, schools and individuals.”
