York cancer researchers take on Lyke Wake Walk challenge for us

Scientists at the Jack Birch Unit at the University of York do fantastic work in the fight against cancer, and we have always supported them in their efforts. Last year, they came out of the lab to conquer the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on our behalf, taking in three mountains, walking 26 miles in 10 hours and raising more than £1,700 for us. For 2017 they’re going even further by taking on the Lyke Wake Walk, a gruelling 40-mile West to East crossing of the North York Moors National Park in under 24 hours.  Departing at 2am from Osmotherley by the light of head torches, the team hopes to pass the Lion Inn at Blakey Ridge for a bacon roll before heading on past Fylingdales Early Warning Radar Station and towards the coast, finishing at Ravenscar.
