The team summits Pen Y Ghent

They did it!

3rd October 2018

A group of York business people are footsore but jubilant after conquering the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for us.

Members of the Minster branch of Business Network International walked 24.5 miles and tackled more than 2,000 metres of ascent over Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen Y Ghent, raising more than  £1,500 for York Against Cancer.

The charity’s general manager Julie Russell is a member of the BNI branch and she challenged her fellow members to take on the challenge.

In the event around 10 of them successfully attempted the walk, one of Britain’s toughest walking challenges.

The walkers took between nine and a half and 11 and a half hours to complete the walk, encouraging and helping each other along the way.

“It was tough,” admitted Julie, “I was really nervous, and I hardly slept the night before, but we battled through it safe and sound. I’m really proud of us all!”

Julie and the rest of the team still have a JustGiving page where you can support their fantastic fundraiser. Just visit: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bniknavesmire2018
